Who we help, and what we specialise in
We're a family run business specialising in driveways and patios. We take pride in our work and attention to detail is what sets us apart from a lot of other companies. Every job is carried out to a high standard, as we would expect work to be carried out on our own properties.
Most of our customers are homeowners who want the front or back of the house sorting properly and once: a cracked concrete drive replaced, a muddy patch turned into parking that takes two cars, a tired patio brought back to life, or the whole outside of a new-build finished off. We work for landlords and small commercial premises too, but a private driveway is the job we do most weeks of the year.
Depth of experience shows up in the decisions rather than the sales pitch. Over 20 years, work has been carried out from York up to Newcastle and across to Penrith: enough made ground, clay, sloping plots and awkward access to know quickly what a site will and won't take.
Day to day we cover Darlington, Durham, Stockton, Northallerton, Newcastle, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Bishop Auckland and Richmond.
Working as a family business changes how a job runs. There's no sales team handing you over to a crew you've never met, and no incentive to rush a drive to get to the next one. Jack Pike, the owner, is on site and contactable throughout, so if you have a question about levels, drainage or the colour you've picked, you're asking the person who is actually laying it.

A typical driveway takes around four days on site. You'll know the plan for each day before we start.

A 20% deposit secures your date. We accept card, cash and bank transfer.
Honest advice, even when it costs us
If a jet wash and re-sand will get you another five years out of a driveway, we'll say so rather than sell you a replacement.

Dig to the depth the surface needs
Excavation is set by what's going on top and what will drive over it, not by how quickly we can get the surface down.
Sub-base compacted in layers
Type 1 laid and whacked in layers rather than one deep dump of stone. It's the single biggest reason a driveway holds its shape.
Edges restrained properly
Haunched edgings and kerbs so blocks and paving can't creep outwards over the years.
Water taken away from the house
Falls, channel drainage and permeable build-ups where they're needed, so surface water goes where it should.
Finished and cleaned down
Kiln-dried sand in, cuts tight, spoil away and the site left as we'd want ours left.
One trade for the whole outside
Driveway, patio, fencing, walling and turf handled together so levels and drainage tie in rather than fight each other.
